About the Beekman/Sutton Place Neighborhoods

The Beekman neighborhood was the site of Mount Pleasant, the Beekman family mansion constructed in 1765. This mansion was turned into British headquarters during the American Revolution. Morgan’s five-story home next door, which is now the official residence of the United Nations Secretary General.
